One place to look is windows updates.
Go to Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Confirm if whatsoever updates were installed on that date.
On the WIndows update page click on Advanced Options then Choose how updates are delivered.
On the "Chose how updates are delivered" page if the first option is turned on, the MS is using your computer equally a "mule" to evangelize updates to other people. That would account for network use.
Also check in the Recycle bin, if someone was using your organization and they were sloppy, there could be deleted files at that place ("sloppy" because there is an option to delete files without putting them in the recycle bin).

If install the TCPIPView utility, volition I be able to view what was downloaded on 11/16/2017 during a specific time period? Something downloaded that used fifteen GB, however, I cannot detect it. I exercise know that it occurred on 11/16/2017 between 5:thirty PM and half dozen:thirty PM.
Is the TCPIPView utility prophylactic to download?

I went to the Windows Update History, there were no updates for eleven/16/2017.
I do not run into the "Avant-garde Options" on the Windows Update History page. Is there another method to get to the Avant-garde Options?
Is there a method to view what was downloaded on 11/16/2017 during a specific time flow? Something downloaded that used fifteen GB, still, I cannot find it. I practice know that information technology occurred on 11/16/2017 between 5:30 PM and 6:xxx PM.

Hi, Paul, TCPIPView is rubber, I would non put you wrong . . .
Actually TCPIPView is more for monitoring your network action should this sort of thing happen over again . . .
As for what was downloaded on 11/16/2017 between 5:thirty PM and half-dozen:30 PM
There are 2 possible means to discover that out:
one.
Open Windows File Explorer and double click on your C Drive in 'This PC'
Click in the Search Box
The Search Ribbon should become agile
Click Date Modified drop down and choose Today
Then click the blueish text in the search box, a calendar will appear
Select the 16th and requite it time to search - it can be a while
In the resulting search, you lot should be able to see what downloaded . . .
ii.
Click your Commencement Button, blazon Issue Viewer and hit Enter
This will open the Outcome Viewer app
On the left, click the arrow beside Windows logs to expand it
For each log, click it and curl down through the events to find that date and fourth dimension
This might give you some clue equally to what happened at that time and what was downloaded . . .

I will endeavour both methods and get dorsum to you with my results. I volition as well try the TCPIPView utility. Is the utility TCPView or TCPIPView? Pitiful for all the questions, I come across TCPView has cracking reviews.
I cannot express my concern, every bit I had my identity stolen 4 times and caused enormous problems.

Hi Paul, deplorable a typo on my part, it is called TCPView.
I use it a lot, it is safe to use, I would not endanger you in whatever way.
I am only hither to help and would not advise on downloading anything I have not already checked out myself . . .

Distressing, misdirected you. the Advanced Options is on the "Update Status" page
Sorry, I do not know of whatsoever mode of identifying what was up or downloaded during a specific time. There are many utilities that can monitor y'all internet use. The trouble is that most of them focus on total volume and speed. Very few provide any ID for the file or program that is doing the upwardly/downwardly loading.
http://world wide web.cucusoft.com/netguard.aspx#CheckHist... is 1 exception I found in a QUICK search. It at least identifies the program doing the traffic.
You lot volition have to exercise your own search to find a better suited application to identify Future traffic.

Hi Dave,
I used the event viewer to view my PC action for xi/16/2017 between v:00 PM and half-dozen:30 PM. I see several alarm messages and error messages. It appears something was trying to download and install some apps or security files, I'thou non sure.
Could I email you a couple of screen shots of the upshot viewer and become your feedback? I really do not sympathize what was occurring on 11/xvi/2017, just it did last for almost ii hours and looks a bit suspicious to me. I exercise not see a style to attach screen shots on this community web site, perhaps I can reply dorsum with the text?

Click your Outset Push button, blazon winver and hitting Enter
In the resulting dialog, have a note of what version No. of Windows x yous are running (1709, 1703, 1607 . . . etc.)
Due to the amount of data that has been downloaded, I am estimate information technology was the Fall Creators Update that was downloading. If you are not running 1709, then that is the nearly likely scenario . . .
